Street Naval Station
The U.S. Navy, as a part of its
Navy / Marine Corps Intranet project, required a 9,000 square foot data center
at this naval base. PDG's services included site evaluation, programming and construction
drawings for this data center, including new construction of a UPS building and
generator enclosure. PDG worked with base personnel to resolve sensitive environmental
issues and overcome site constraints. Construction
Valuation: $4,100,000 The 32nd Street Naval Station
was one of many data centers completed by Pacific Design Group for the Navy and
Marines. Our company was retained to lead the evaluation and design effort at
bases throughout the western United States. Our role was that of the project Architect
in charge of the overall project design and coordination for EDS and Rancho Santa
Fe Technology Services, the contract leads with the Navy. -
Develop facility, utility infrastructure and site assessment criteria to be used
on all facility evaluations
- Evaluate at least three
proposed buildings at each of 12 military bases for suitability of conversion
to a secure and fully redundant data center, network operations center and support
facilities
- Generate an evaluation report based on
findings and preliminary engineering, which outlines the requirements for converting
the structure to a data center of the tier level required
- Develop
preliminary design schematics and specifications
- Create
engineering and design drawings for data center construction at the selected buildings
- Monitor construction for conformance to the design drawings
- Work with 3rd party testing and commissioning team to
verify operation of all systems.
